With great sadness we inform you that Cor Kalk, former lab-manager of the protein crystallography group of the RU Groningen, passed away on April 7, 2020 at the age of 75 years.
Cor worked for more than 42 years with the Groningen protein crystallography group, where he was responsible for the flawless operation of the X-ray data collection systems and laboratory instruments. He stood at the basis of many a successful PhD project collecting high-quality X-ray diffraction data. In addition, he organized the smooth move of the group from the Nijenborgh to the new laboratories in the Linnaeusborg.
His death came suddenly while he was at home resting on the couch. We remember Cor as a person who cared deeply about the well-being of the group, for whom no effort was too much to help the PhD students and post-docs getting their data. Our thoughts and condolences go to his wife Biny, his children, family and friends. A link to the funeral card is here.
